Music Factoids

The small Scottish town of Kirriemuir as well as featuring in a rather rude rugby song is perhaps best known for "Kirriemuir Gingerbread" and as the birthplace of "Peter Pan" author J.M. Barrie. However it also pays tribute to another famous son of the town. AC/DC frontman Bon Scott spent the first 6 years of his life in the town, until his family emigrated to Australia in 1952. Bon died in 1980 but 26 years after his death, the town would commemorate his life by establishing the Bonfest "International Bon Scott Rock Festival". The festival has run annually, except for 2020 & 2021 which were cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic. It's not every rock star who can boast of a festival bearing his name.
